MY AUTOBIOGRAPHY__Kids Book
"Here I am," proclaims Daisy Mae Byrd in this powerful memoir." A child of rural Georgia and the daughter of loving parents, but one too often defeated by social and economic forces that I did not make, did not understand, and could not control. Forces that warped my expectations, and tragically dimmed the horizon of life's possibilities for far too many years. Along with my parents great caring, I inherited the narrow, forlorn world that they lived in, and I carried this world with me for many years___my own bundle of grief.
But then, through the grace of God, the scales fell from my eyes, and I found within myself the power to shape my own life___and to find my own way into the bright world of possibilities that is the true inheritance of all God's children.
Not since Maya Angelou's I Know Why The Cage Bird Sing, has an African American woman confronted so honestly and so fearlessly the dreaded cost to body, soul, and mind of growing up black in the south. A must read for anyone who seek to understand__and overcome that bleak experience.

Ms. Byrd is a true storyteller and candidly shares intimate details of her life growing up in rural Georgia, and later, Savannah. The openness of her style invited me in from the first page, and it was truly hard to put down. When I thought I was at a stopping point another revelation would grip and hold me for another hour. Then another. So readable that when I picked it up again halfway through, I was compelled to finish in one sitting. Ms. Byrd’s family, friends, and real life villains came to life through her clear, no-nonsense writing. I felt her joys , burdens, and victories(never defeats!). I laughed, cried, & shook my head in wonder at her determination to develop and achieve her goals, and to make life better for herself and her close-knit family. Ms. Byrd moves through and beyond tragedy and disappointment by way of her faith and her strength of character. Her story is indeed a slice of life, one that enlightens and inspires.

For Daisy Mae, her entire existence had been focused on breaking the chain of poverty that had been handed down in her family for more generations than she care to think of. After more than forty years, there were still mountains to climb, stumbling blocks to step over, while people that supposed to love and support her, instead, shunned her for her short comings and efforts. For over twenty five years, Daisy had no idea she was setting the stage for multi million -billion dollar companies to grow wealthier, which made her the butt of her own dreams, creation, and talent. Being uneducated and in poverty, nothing prepared her for the nightmare of fighting the Judicial System in the quaint little town of Savannah, Georgia,.. alone. While battling something she had no name for, she pressed on and held on to God's unchanging hand.
